Mr Edge came in and helped us to design a parachute that may slow down the time machine as gravity pulls it to the floor in the Stone Age. We are trying to slow it down so that it doesn’t make a massive crater when it touches down. We made our prototypes from black sack, wool and plastic cups.
Can you think of some materials that may be light enough to be a good parachute but strong enough to hold up the weight of the machine? A good answer will take about the features or “properties” of the material that makes it a good choice. We will need materials for the parachute and the cables that hold it.
